Light of Dreams / Akihide Tamura

45,00€Price
  • Catalog of a retrospective exhibition of Tamura's work held at The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography July 21-Sept. 23, 2012. Tamura Akihide has been regarded as one of Japan's leading photographers since he was in his twenties. His genius was recognized by Shigemori Koen, a photography critic who was also head of the Tokyo College of Photography, while Tamura was a student there. His House series was included in the New Japanese Photography exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1974, and was acquired for the museum's collection. This exhibition traces Tamura Akihide's creative achievements through 114 works, including his iconic debut series, BASE, with its images of American bases in Japan, and unpublished work as well. It is a superb opportunity to experience Tamura's photographic world, unfaded and vigorous now and into the future. Yume no Hikari' (Light of Dreams) was the title that photographer Akihide Tamura chose for his debut solo exhibition, held at Nikon Salon back in 1969. There's a sense of circularity to this retrospective, which collects over 100 images from throughout his career. Tellingly, it's the earlier shots that are the most potent. 1 v. (unpaged) : chiefly ill. ; 25 cm. Brief text in both English and Japanese.
